FAQ:

WHO IS THE REFLECT COLLECTIVE?

Reflect is an LGBTIQIA+ organization, made up of young QTPOC (Queer Trans Person of Color) organizers passionate about serving LGBTQIA+ survivors of sexual violence (SSV) in South Florida. Reflect aims to share and create a variety of programs and resources for QTPOC survivors to aid them in their healing journey and provide financial assistance to help cover for any needs survivors may have. Throughout the year we host events and programs to raise funds for our bi-annual Queer Survivor Grant. As an organization built by survivors we deeply understand the lack of social support and financial support that QTPOC survivors have in South Florida. We hope to not only host inclusive and affirming programming but also provide tangible resources to QTPOC survivors. We always hold to heart that Reflect's goal is to reflect the strength, resilience, joy, need and challenges of community. We always hold to heart that Reflect's goal is to reflect the strength, resilience, joy, need and challenges of community. We are For Survivors By Survivors.

WHAT IS QUEER FEST?

Queer Fest started out as "Reflect Concert" in 2019, a small benefit concert created by 3 FIU students to raise funds for FIU's Queering Sexual Assault Program. That year, Reflect was able to raise more than $1000 dollars and bring together more than 100 people from all over South Florida. Now it has become "Queer Fest," Reflect's annual signature event that raises funds for Reflect's bi-annual Queer Survivor Grant. Queer Fest is a unique event as our stage hosts an all Queer and Trans B.I.P.O.C. production of performers from all artistic backgrounds, many of whom are survivors of sexual violence themselves. Queer Fest not only addresses the financial need of our survivor community, but brings our local South Florida community together to cry, to laugh, to heal, to love, to resist, and to stand in solidarity with sexual violence survivors. Queer Fest is a movement.
